X-Plant” is the term used for removing breast implants, a little tricky at first, but once you know, you know.
My own journey starts with breast cancer, reconstruction, implants, and now X-plants (due to a recall by Allergan/Abbvie)
Why X-Plant / explant surgery now?
• To support lymphatic and autoimmune health
• To feel more comfortable in my body and during workouts
• To experience life without implants
• To follow the SHARP program by Dr. Robert Whitfield, MD, both before and after surgery
• To document and share this experience over a 3–6 month period
2019 This picture of a empowered woman was taken at the Spring Fashion Week .... fashion times have changed.
My story starts in 2012, I was in the midst of something incredibly transformative! I was completing my certification as a health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), embracing my passion for helping others live healthier lives. But life had something else in store for me.
That year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, a diagnosis that would forever change my path.
The journey to finding the right doctors was long and challenging. I sought out five different doctors over 11 years traveling between California and South Carolina, trying to find someone who could help me understand what was happening with my body.
Each doctor had their own approach, their own theories, and it was exhausting navigating so many opinions,
"it's just scar tissue, that lump(s) are normal."
But I knew I had to keep fighting, keep looking for answers.
By 2019, after years of living with implants, I found myself once again facing complications.
My implants, were recalled. Like a car has a part that's been recalled.. it's not taken seriously.
A situation known as a “moratorium” in medical terms, where it was deemed necessary to stall or suspend usage of these implants.
My frustration was growing. I'd been dealing with discomfort and health concerns for 11+ years:
FDA Then the recall: the implants had been officially recalled (2021). allergan/abbvie recall
